How to export orders from Shopify

In your Shopify admin, go to Orders, filter the orders you want, click Export, choose the orders (for example Orders by date) and the file format, and click Export orders. Up to 50 orders download to your device; larger exports are emailed to you and the store owner.

Export orders from the Orders page

  1. Sort and filter your orders.
  2. From the Orders page, click Export.
  3. Select the orders to export, for example Orders by date with a start and end date.
  4. Under Export as, select a file format.
  5. Click Export orders. To get only payment information, click Export transaction histories instead.

What the file contains

  • One row per line item: an order with three products has three rows, and most order fields are blank on the second and third rows.
  • Order fields such as Name, Email, Financial Status, Fulfillment Status, Subtotal, Shipping, Taxes, Total, Discount Code and Created at.
  • Line item fields such as quantity, name, price, SKU and fulfillment status.
  • Billing and shipping address fields, notes and note attributes.
  • The Discount Code column shows codes and manual discounts on draft orders, not automatic discounts.

Things to know

  • Large exports take time: Shopify says an export with fewer than 100,000 items can finish in under an hour, and one with 400,000 items in about 4 hours.
  • The columns are fixed. To share or total only some of them, open the file in a spreadsheet and remove or add up columns there.

Export only the columns you need

Tabula's Order export and Order lines export reports let you tick the columns you want, in the order you want, with filters such as payment status, tag or channel. Results show with a total row, and download as CSV or Excel. On Pro, a saved export can run every day, week or month and reach you by email through Shopify Flow.
